Judith I. Bridgland is a Scottish artist known for her vibrant, expressive landscapes rendered in bold oils on canvas. Born in Australia in 1962 and raised in Scotland, she studied History of Fine Art and English at the University of Glasgow, where her deep appreciation for art history and visual culture was formed.
Bridgland's distinctive style combines richly textured brushwork with dynamic colour to portray Scotland's rugged coastlines, mountain ranges, and flower-filled meadows. Her technique balances impasto application with delicate detail, creating compositions that are both powerful and poetic. Light, seasonality, and movement are central to her work, which captures not just the view but the sensation of being within it.
Her career has included numerous solo and group exhibitions across the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Russia, and the USA. She is a member of several prestigious art societies, including the Royal Glasgow Institute and the Paisley Art Institute, and has won awards including the MacRoberts Open Prize and Glasgow Art Club Award.
Judith continues to paint from her studio in Glasgow and frequently travels to source new inspiration. Her landscapes are collected both privately and publicly, appreciated for their colour, vitality, and emotional resonance.
